Okay, as im writing all of the descriptions I feel like I’m being a bit of a hater with all the Taupo descriptions, but bear with me. The free hot water creeks in Rotorua set my expectations pretty high, so maybe I was expecting a bit more. But hey, Otumuheke Stream is still a nice spot to check out. At least it’s pretty, and the view of the Waikato River is lovely.

From the carpark at the end of Spa Road, you’ll want to follow the Rotary Ride and Waikato River Track for about 5-10 minutes, which will lead you straight to the hot pools. The water’s hottest right by the mini waterfall, and as it travels downstream, it cools off. On a hot summer day, it’s a nice free spot to soak, but I wouldn’t recommend it on a colder day since the water isn't super warm. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can jump from the hot water into the cold river but be careful of the river’s strong currents.

Don’t let my slightly low expectations stop you though. It’s still a beautiful walk and a cool spot to see for yourself;)
