One of my favorite little corners of Altea is the Costera del Mestre la Música, a stepped street that winds up toward the old town. At first glance it’s just another pretty alley, but look closer and you’ll see it’s full of details celebrating the town’s musical heritage. Murals, tiles and plaques pay tribute to Altea’s strong connection to music and the generations of musicians who’ve given the town its cultural heartbeat. It’s steep, so you’ll feel the climb, but that’s part of the charm. Every few steps you get a new angle of whitewashed walls, bursts of color and glimpses of the sea below. In the evenings, the atmosphere feels even more special, with the warm light bouncing off the stone steps.
I always tell people this isn’t just a shortcut up the hill, it’s a little open-air gallery, a reminder that Altea lives and breathes music. Walking here makes you feel connected to that creative spirit that still defines the town today.
📍 Easy to find if you’re exploring Altea’s old town, just follow the steps upward from the lower streets.
