TIMING: mid August through Labor Day
We LOVE The Alaska State Fair! It's one of our favorite times each year! It's is a lively annual event held in Palmer, Alaska, where locals and visitors come together to celebrate our state's unique culture and community spirit. With its epic backdrop of the Chugach Mountains, the fair features a mix of traditional fair attractions like rides, games, and amazing food vendors serving up everything from corn dogs to reindeer sausage.
Always a highlight is the showcase of local agriculture, including giant vegetables that seem to defy nature. People flock to see these massive pumpkins and cabbages, which often become the talk of the town. There are also plenty of live performances, showcasing local musicians and entertainers, adding to the festive atmosphere.
Families enjoy the petting zoo and various contests, while art and craft booths offer a glimpse into the creativity of Alaskan artisans. The fair really captures the essence of Alaskan life, blending fun, food, and community in a way that makes it a must-visit for anyone in the area during late summer.
Oh and there's always headliner bands or people performing in concert throughout the fair evenings!
