Former Tōō Gijuku Missionary Residence
Historic
Directions

An old Western-style house built back in 1900 for foreign teachers who came to teach at the local school. It is completely free to walk inside, and it gives you a really interesting look at how expats lived in northern Japan over a century ago, with all the old furniture still intact. The building itself stands out immediately with its bright green window frames and red brick chimney, which look totally different from the traditional architecture nearby.
