Ine is a delightful fishing village renowned for its unique row of wooden boathouses known as "funaya" (船屋), where "船" means boat and "屋" means house. These houses are literally constructed right at the water's edge. Personally, it's one of my favorite places in all of Japan. You can enjoy Ine year-round, regardless of the weather.

Quick summary of the itinerary:

  • Take a leisurely stroll in this picturesque area.

  • Experience a boat ride.

  • Relish fresh seafood for lunch (if you don't eat raw fish, they also serve excellent karaage and fried shrimp).

  • Visit a sake brewery.

  • Explore a couple of hidden shrines.

  • Discover a couple of places to savor delicious matcha, coffee, and desserts with a stunning view.
