Historic
Directions

This former library is a beautiful Western-style building built in 1906, easily recognized by its distinctive twin octagonal towers. The architecture gives off a nostalgic early 20th-century atmosphere and reflects the growing Western influence that was reaching Hirosaki at the time.

Admission is free, and you can walk through the former reading rooms and offices, many of which have been preserved to resemble the building’s original appearance.
