Aizu Bukeyashiki
Museum
Directions

A reconstructed samurai residence turned open-air museum.
Built based on historical drawings after the original was lost in the Boshin War, Aizu Bukeyashiki offers a glimpse into what life in a high-ranking samurai household may have looked like. It’s not an original structure, but the scale of the buildings, gardens, and interiors still makes it an interesting stop if you want to learn more about Aizu beyond the castle.

*During my visit, I was given an English route map for the museum, but it didn’t match the Japanese one, which was the correct version. If they haven’t updated it yet, I’d recommend asking for a Japanese map as well, just in case.
