Genbikei Gorge
Sightseeing
Directions

A scenic gorge carved by the Iwai River, known for its unusual rock formations, clear water, and dramatic cliffs. Several walking paths and viewpoints run alongside the gorge, making it easy to explore at your own pace.

The area is also known for its famous flying dango, where orders are sent across the river on a rope from a teahouse on the opposite bank. It’s a fun and unusual local tradition, though for most visitors the gorge itself is the main attraction.

While the scenery is beautiful, there isn’t a huge amount to do in the immediate area apart from visiting places like Sahara Glass Park. If you’re relying entirely on public transportation, I would probably skip it. However, if you’re exploring the region by car, it’s worth a visit.
