This postbox is a bit like the Eiffel Tower of Kayabuki-no-sato, and I have to say, it's one of the most photogenic postboxes I've ever come across 😅

You wouldn't have missed it anyway, but I've included it in this guide for one specific reason – there's a fun trick for sending postcards to your friends, relatives, or even to yourself (why not 😅) from Kayabuki-no-sato.

You can buy some beautiful postcards with pictures of this village at certain locations mentioned in this itinerary (Cafe&Gallery Saika and Gift shop Kibi Kobo). Just a friendly reminder – you'll need to buy stamps as well (they're also available at these shops, but you'll need to ask the cashier as they might not be displayed for sale anywhere). Each stamp for international shipping costs around 70 JPY.

Simply show the phrase below to the cashier if you want to buy some stamps:

💬 海外にハガキを送るために切手を買いたい

*which translates to "I would like to purchase stamps for sending postcards overseas."

Once you have your postcard and stamp, there's nothing left to do but stick the stamp, sign the card, and drop it in the postbox 🥰

*there's always a slight chance that any of the mentioned shops might be closed for some reason, so if you still plan to send a postcard from this village, I'd recommend getting a postcard and a stamp before you arrive in the village.

Most post offices in Japan usually offer a selection of cute postcards and stamps.
