Tsuruga Castle is closely tied to the history of the samurai and the Boshin War in the late 1800s. The current structure is a reconstruction, but the stone walls, moat, and surrounding grounds still feel impressive in person. The area around the castle is large and especially nice for a walk, with wide paths, gardens, and seasonal scenery throughout the year. During the warmer months, you can also take a small boat ride through the moat. Inside the castle, there are exhibitions covering the history of the region and the final years of the samurai era.
