Yohashira-jinja Shrine is a major spiritual site in Matsumoto, known for enshrining four powerful deities, including Amaterasu (the sun goddess) and the three other major gods who gave rise to the universe. Because of this, the shrine is regarded as a rare place where all wishes can be fulfilled.

The shrine was originally established in 1879, during the early Meiji era, and played an important role in promoting Shinto during a time of national transformation. Its name means "four pillars," representing the four enshrined gods.
