What to order:
Order the charcoal-grilled chicken. It’s incredibly juicy, full of smoky flavour and one of our favourite chicken spots in Lisbon. Don’t skip the salads either. You can choose from a great selection of homemade sides and they pair perfectly with the chicken.
Why it’s here:
Frangasqueira Nacional is a tiny local institution in Príncipe Real, famous for its charcoal-grilled chicken and long queues. There are only one or two tables inside, so most people order takeaway. Despite its size, it’s become one of Lisbon’s most loved chicken spots thanks to consistently excellent food and reasonable prices.
Tip:
Skip trying to eat inside and do what we did: grab your chicken and salads to go, then head to nearby Jardim do Príncipe Real. It’s a much more enjoyable experience than waiting around for a table, especially on warm evenings.
