What to order

Pastéis de nata – slightly sweeter with a rich, creamy custard and crisp flaky shell. Best eaten warm.

Why it’s here

One of Lisbon’s most popular pastel de nata spots. Fresh batches come out constantly and you can watch them being made behind the counter. There are multiple locations across the city.

Tip

Minimal seating so expect to stand or takeaway. There’s usually a short queue at peak times – go early morning or mid-afternoon to avoid waiting. Our favourite spots are inside Time Out Market (we managed to order just as they came out of the oven) and the one here at Largo Portas do Sol (Alfama) – grab takeaway and sit outside on a bench for incredible sea views.
