What to order:
We highly recommend the pork belly and the duck if they’re on the menu. The dishes do change regularly depending on what’s available, but those were two of the standout plates from our visit. Pair them with a Portuguese wine recommended by the staff, who are incredibly knowledgeable and happy to guide you through the list.
Why it’s here:
Tucked away in Alfama near Sé Cathedral, Antiga Wine Bar is one of those places that feels like you’ve stumbled across a local secret. It combines a fantastic selection of Portuguese wines with creative petiscos (Portuguese small plates), making it a great introduction to Portugal’s food and wine culture in one sitting.
Tip:
Seating is limited and it has become increasingly popular, so book ahead if you can, especially in the evening. It’s the perfect spot for a relaxed dinner after exploring Alfama’s winding streets and viewpoints. Tell the staff what styles of wine you normally enjoy and let them choose something local for you.
