Local Guide of Vatnajökull is the best for glacier hikes & ice cave tours. This particular Ice Cave Tour meets at Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon (look for the black truck with the "Local Guide" logo) from October - April.

The Ice Cave Tour is their most popular tour. From the meeting point, you'll ride in a modified 4x4 on a rugged road into the glacial valley, which is an adventure of its own. From there you'll hike roughly 15 minutes to the entrance of the cave, and most of the walk will happen on the glacier. Although the exact ice cave can vary from year to year and throughout the season, most of Vatnajökull's ice caves are stunning blue ice caves, and require a short walk on the glacier to the cave entrance. At 3 hours only, this half-day trip suits most people and is perfect for the short winter days or if you are worried about Iceland’s winter weather. Inside the cave, you will have time to enjoy the scenery, gaze at the shades of blue, and take photos.

Please note that you will not be the only group visiting the ice cave.
