Whanganui (also spelt Wanganui) is a city in the Manawatu-Whanganui region of New Zealand. The city is located on the west coast of the North Island at the mouth of the Whanganui River, New Zealand’s longest navigable waterway.

This is where hikers will finish their journey on the Whanganui river and leave their canoes for pick up. The town is a good spot to stop over for the night if you need a rest from the trail and offers plenty of resupply options from Woolworths to PAK’n’SAVE, New World and Four square.
