Nearing the bottom of the South Island Te Araroa trail runs through private farmland with the longest stint being through the Mount Linton Station.

You must respect and comply with the stations requests to strictly stay on the designated path and walk through the property only in daylight hours. This is a working farm where you will cross creeks, follow roads and frequently walk through cattle and sheep paddocks. I’d recommend carrying enough water for the day here to avoid having to collect drinking water from creeks contaminated by livestock.

Note: This section of trail has seasonal lambing closures and is not accessible between late September to early November.
