After walking Whangarei Heads hikers must cross the Whangarei Harbour to continue on the trail. There is no way to walk across the harbour here like some of the trails minor inlet crossings so instead it must be done by boat.
There are two water taxi services running across the inlet but must be organised in advance with current contact details of both Blair Jones and Peter (boat operators) found on the TA app. Cost is approximately $100 for a group of five so it’s best to organise this one with a group of hikers.
