Whakahoro Campsite is a spacious and grassy campground located near the Whanganui River, popular with campers, mountain bikers and TA hikers. There is a basic bookable hut and toilets here as well as a small shop nearby called the Blue Duck Café where you can grab a coffee.

The campsite offers plenty of space for tents and activities but has limited phone reception and is vehicle accessible by a long gravel road. This is where you will meet your canoe hire company, tie down your food and gear barrels and start your journey paddling down the Whanganui River.
