When most people think of Madeira’s natural pools, they head straight to Porto Moniz. But just down the coast in the tiny village of Seixal, there’s a quieter set of volcanic rock pools that feel way more relaxed and local.
The Seixal Natural Pools are carved right into the black lava rock, with crystal-clear Atlantic water constantly refreshed by the waves. On calm days, it’s perfect for swimming and floating. On rough days, you can sit on the edge and watch the ocean crash into the rocks – it’s dramatic and beautiful.
