Miradouro Garganta Funda (Ponta do Pargo)
Dramatic cliff waterfall on Madeira’s quiet west coast.
One of the island’s highest waterfalls drops straight into the Atlantic here – over 140 meters. The viewpoint is a short walk (≈ 10 min) from a small parking area near Ponta do Pargo lighthouse, and despite being this beautiful, it stays surprisingly quiet.
The best part? Late afternoon when the cliffs glow orange and the wind carries mist from the falls up to the viewpoint. It’s raw, wild Madeira in just a few steps.

Path can be muddy after rain – wear decent shoes even though it’s short.
Bring a poncha or coffee and just sit – the vibe here is pure Atlantic energy.
