Cabo Girão Skywalk

Cabo Girão is one of Madeira’s big-ticket sights – a 589‑meter sea cliff with a glass-floored platform looking straight down to the ocean and terraced farms below. It’s the highest sea cliff in Europe and definitely delivers that dizzying wow factor.

But here’s the thing: it can get crazy crowded with buses mid-morning. If you come early for sunrise or late for sunset, you’ll have it almost to yourself – and the colors on the cliffs are unreal. There’s also a small chapel nearby and off to the side, quieter viewpoints where you can escape the selfie chaos.

• Come early or late – midday is bus-tour central.

• Bring a drone for epic cliff footage (check wind!).

• Combine with Câmara de Lobos or Ponta do Sol on the same route.
