Wagenbrüchsee, also known as Geroldsee, is a stunning mountain lake in Bavaria, Germany. Surrounded by lush meadows, dense forests, and towering peaks, it's a picture-perfect spot for hikers, nature lovers and photographers. You can even take a refreshing dip in the cool waters during the summer months.
There’s a small parking area in the village of Gerold – from there it’s about a 15-minute walk to the lake. Good to know: The day ticket for the parking lot is valid throughout the entire municipality of Krün, not just at this location.
For a longer outing, you can hike down to nearby Barmsee. If you'd like to walk around both lakes, plan for roughly 3 hours.
