This statue (created by Hermann Mejer) is an homage to the famous Italian singer-songwriter Domenico Modugno, who was born in Polignano a Mare. You might think it's a song by the Gypsy Kings (to which I have much respect and love), but he deserves the credit for the big hit "Nel blu dipinto di blu", internationally known as "Volare".
