Ammonite Falls is a 3.2 km out-and-back trail near East Wellington, British Columbia. It’s a moderately challenging route that takes about 1 hour and 6 minutes to complete. The trail is popular with hikers, so expect to see others along the way. It’s open year-round and worth visiting in any season.

The Ammonite Falls via Jail Trail is a scenic, well-marked route with a mix of hills, roots, and rocky sections, but overall, it’s a manageable hike. The trailhead is off Weigles Road and follows sections of Jail Trail before reaching Ammonite Falls at 1.5 km. Along the way, you’ll cross Flynnfall Creek and walk alongside Benson Creek, making for a beautiful, varied landscape.

For photography, there are plenty of great compositions to explore. After heavy rain, the falls can be too mighty to close, so the best time to visit is when a steady flow and lush ferns are growing along the embankment to add depth and foreground interest. Whether you’re here for a quick adventure or planning to spend time capturing the falls, Ammonite Falls is a rewarding spot to explore.
