Hobe Fort, also known as Huwei Fort, is a historical fort located near Fort Santo Domingo in Tamsui District, New Taipei, Taiwan. Built-in 1888 during the Qing dynasty, it was part of the Chinese government's efforts to strengthen Taiwan's coastal defenses after the Sino-French War. Although it never saw combat, Hobe Fort remains well-preserved and offers visitors a glimpse into Taiwan's military history. With its intact outer walls, vaults, and gate, the fort provides an interesting backdrop for exploring the French landing in Tamsui. So if you're in the area and looking for a dose of history, Hobe Fort is definitely worth a visit!
