This itinerary is for those who want to enjoy the autumn foliage in Tohoku. Aomori has some of the best in Japan.

To fully enjoy the Tohoku region, you can either choose to fly into Aomori Airport or take the bullet train to Shin-Aomori Station. For maximum convenience, make sure to rent a car from the airport or the station. Sometimes it’s cheaper to fly, and other times it’s cheaper to get a JR Pass or a JR Tohoku Pass for access from Tokyo, but both travel options provide great flexibility.
