The Stockhorn is a mountain overlooking the region of Lake Thun in the Bernese Oberland. Stockhorn is accessible via cable car from Erlenbach.
Arrive in Erlenbach im Simmental and park your car by the cable car here. Alternatively, arrive by train from Bern or Interlaken (via Spiez), then walk for 10–15 minutes through the village to reach the Stockhornbahn valley station.
You need to take two cable cars to reach the top. The first takes you to Chrindi, where you'll switch to the second cable car to Stockhorn. A return ticket costs 62 CHF. Discounts apply. At the top, enjoy the views and visit the restaurant.
Stockhorn offers several hiking options. I hiked down to Lake Oberstockensee, where you can swim, and then returned to the cable car at Chrindi. There's also a second lake, Hinterstockensee, directly at the Chrindi cable car station.
