Lauterbrunnen is well-known for its beautiful valley and the giant waterfall called Staubbachfall. Lauterbrunnen is a fairytale land surrounded by mountains. It’s located in the Jungfrau region.
Details:
You can arrive either by train or car. We usually park our car at the train station, at the beginning of the village. From there, you can walk toward the village and Staubbach Falls. I highly recommend continuing away from the village, where you will have amazing views and escape the crowds.
Here you can find the famous spot overlooking the waterfall and the church.
Day trip idea:
My favourite activity in Lauterbrunnen is taking the scenic train from Lauterbrunnen train station to Wengen. After arriving in Wengen, I enjoy taking a walk and having a drink on the terrace. Hotel Schonegg has an amazing terrace with a mountain view. This hotel was also our base for two nights when we visited the Jungfrau region for the first time. Afterwards, I hike back down to Lauterbrunnen. Upon returning to Lauterbrunnen, I recommend visiting Staubbachfall and returning to the station through the town. This makes for an unforgettable day trip.
