Landsberg am Lech still preserves significant parts of its ancient medieval walls, which were built between the 13th and 15th centuries.
These walls, along with their towers and gates, served to protect the city, which was an important commercial crossroads on the Salt Route (Salzstraße).
The medieval walls formed a complete defensive belt around the city.
Several fortified gates and watchtowers still stand, preserving the historical atmosphere.
The best-preserved sections are located near the Lech River and around the historic center, where it is possible to walk along the walls and enjoy impressive views.
