The beautiful Augsburg Cathedral has foundations dating back to the 8th century, but has had several later additions over the centuries, including the beautiful 14th-century bronze doors depicting scenes from the Old Testament.

The oldest part of the cathedral is the crypt below the choir, with scenes of the Madonna.

Other treasures include the Weingartner Altarpiece by Hans Holbein the Elder and some of the oldest stained-glass windows in Germany, showing images of the prophets.

Its towers are 62 meters high.
