It is a city with over 1200 years of history, known as "the city of cloisters," its rich medieval heritage is reflected in its preserved architecture, charming museums, and vibrant cultural traditions.

For a short period between the 12th century and 1376, Feuchtwangen was a Free Imperial City, but it ceded its rights to the Counts of Brandenburg and is now part of Bavaria.

The city of Feuchtwangen has 12,000 inhabitants and grew up around a Benedictine monastery, founded in the 8th century, and a testament to the town's 1,200-year history and the magical setting for the renowned annual Cloister Festival.

The heart of the town is the magnificent market square, often called "Franconia's Festival Hall," a perfect spot to soak in the historic atmosphere.
