The Roman-Germanic Museum is located next to the cathedral and is a modern building of glass and concrete.

The museum houses archaeological finds from the Roman and pre-Roman periods, discovered in Cologne and the Rhine Valley.

It displays weapons, everyday objects, ornaments, works of art, and a great deal of jewelry.

It also features an incredible Roman-era mosaic — resembling a carpet — that is magnificent, remarkably well-preserved, and remains in its original location, as the museum was built around it. The museum is impressive.

Opening

The main building is currently under renovation (reopening scheduled for 2030).

The temporary building is generally open from Wednesday to Monday, 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM; on the first Thursday of the month, it is open from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM.

Tickets

Tickets are €6.00 for adults, and €3.50 for children and students.

Address

Roncalliplatz 4 (currently closed)
