The Roman-Germanic Museum is located next to the cathedral and is a modern building of glass and concrete.
The museum houses archaeological finds from the Roman and pre-Roman periods, discovered in Cologne and the Rhine Valley.
It displays weapons, everyday objects, ornaments, works of art, and a great deal of jewelry.
It also features an incredible Roman-era mosaic — resembling a carpet — that is magnificent, remarkably well-preserved, and remains in its original location, as the museum was built around it. The museum is impressive.
