Take a moment to relax by the Fischerbrunnen, or Fishermen's Fountain, a lovely spot on the historic Ried Island.
Ried Island is the heart of the city, and also located in its oldest part, dating back to the 16th century. The small island is formed in the middle of the Wörnitz River. Since the time of human migrations, fishing communities began to settle there.
In 1982, the Fishermen's Fountain was erected on the island by Georg Bayer, in homage to these fishermen.
In front of the fountain is located the Hohes Meer, a 16th-century stone house, the oldest existing building on the island. This building has six floors, and the inscription on its front facade indicates its construction in 1639.
