Created in 1316 to be a treatment and care home for needy patients, like a charity hospital.

There is a beautiful courtyard with arcades built in 1717, a small Gothic church that is the only preserved building from the time of the hospital's construction and which houses valuable sculptures.

Today more than 100 elderly people live there, and the place operates with income from grape cultivation and the production of wonderful wines.

Visitors can sample the various types of wines available on site, the Bürgerspital Weinstuben, where a stunning arcaded courtyard welcomes you for an unforgettable meal. This isn't just any restaurant; it's part of a foundation dating back to the 14th century and one of Germany's most renowned wineries. You can savor authentic, hearty Franconian dishes, from classic roasts to local specialties, all paired perfectly with award-winning wines grown in the estate's own vineyards. The atmosphere is truly special, whether you're dining in the cozy, rustic wine tavern or enjoying the open air of the romantic courtyard in summer.
