It is the second largest fortification in Munich, built in the 14th century, and is one of the city's three remaining gates. It is located in Munich's historic center.

In front, there are traditional shops and restaurants. Every year, the Christmas Market is the biggest attraction there.

It is one of the next stops from the main central station via the U-Bahn. Sendlinger Tor station is an important local transport hub and was completely modernized between 2017 and 2024.

In front of the gate, across the street, you will see the fountain in Sendlinger-Tor-Platz. The fountain has a diameter of over 18 meters and extends over an area of 320m². Five fountains, approximately 3.50 meters high, are grouped around a sixth central fountain. The system is the work of sculptor Heiner Schumann and has been in operation since 1972. In 2012, it was renovated. During the summer, it is the perfect place to cool off.
