The building that now serves as the town hall is called "Steinhaus zu Nördlingen" (The Stone House of Nördlingen), built in the 13th century, and is considered the oldest stone building in the city. Since 1382, it has been used unchanged as the town hall.

In 1499-1500, the building gained a third floor, in addition to being internally renovated to accommodate new administrative functions.

In 1509, the tower known as "Schatzturm" was erected.

In 1618, Wolfgang Walberger added the elegant external staircase in suevite stone, an architectural highlight that combines Gothic elements with Renaissance ornaments. Suevite stone is a type of metamorphic impact rock, formed exclusively in regions struck by meteorite impacts.

Currently, in addition to its administrative functions, it also houses the city's tourist information office, serving as a service point for visitors.
