It is the most famous brewery in the city. It was founded in 1589 by Wilhelm V. It was initially located in the Alter Hof, but in 1654 it moved to its current address.

In 1830, the brewery was authorized to sell beer to the public, as before it was only a brewery for royalty.

The Hofbräuhaus is known worldwide and a visit is a must.

The beer is traditionally sold in 1-liter mugs, called Maß. To accompany it, order a Weißwurst, the white sausage served with sweet mustard, and a pretzel.

THIRD REICH TOUR

The city's most famous brewery was also the venue for the first major mass assembly of Hitler's Nazi Party, at the time of the birth of the NSDAP.

Open daily from 11:00AM to midnight. Kitchen closes at 10:00PM, and last drink orders are accepted at 11:30PM.
