The Asisi Panorama: DIE MAUER (The Wall) is one of Berlin's most immersive and exciting attractions. Created by artist Yadegar Asisi, the panorama offers a realistic view of what life was like in the divided city during the 1980s.
What is the Panorama?
Unlike a traditional museum, this is a giant 360° panoramic painting, approximately 15 meters high and 60 meters in circumference. The work depicts a fictional autumn day in the 1980s, seen from the West Berlin side (Kreuzberg district) towards East Berlin.
- The Experience: you climb onto a 4-meter-high observation platform in the center of the roundabout. Through lighting effects (simulating the day and night cycle) and a soundtrack composed especially for the exhibition, you feel transported to the time of the Cold War.
- Realistic details: the artwork depicts children playing near the wall, graffiti, East German guard patrols in the "death strip", guard dogs, and the mundane routine of citizens surrounded by the wall.
