This fantastic Baroque chapel is located atop a hill, and from across the bridge, its grandeur can be appreciated. It is beautiful and impressive.
It was designed by Balthasar Neumann between 1747-1750 and its interior is richly adorned.
The Pietà, located on the altar of one of the chapels (Gnadenaltar), attracts many faithful because it has been said to have performed miracles and apparitions.
To get there, you climb on foot (352 steps) and along the way you will find 14 chapels.
You can walk from the city center, but if you want to use public transport, take the S-Bahn train S4 (direction Königsberger Straße) from Rathaus Station to Senderring Station; there take bus 35 (direction Finkenweg) to the Mainleitenweg stop. From there, follow Nikolausstraße street, where the staircase for the ascent begins.
