Built by the architect Friedrich von Bürkleim between 1847-49, it is 30m wide and 20m high.

The Central Station was practically destroyed in World War II, and in the following years it was rebuilt and renovated several times.

Munich's new central train station is already undergoing a major renovation project. It will be the most complete and modern train station in Europe.

The renovation is expected to be completed between 2037 and 2039. The centerpiece, a new reception building, should be completed two years after the completion of the second main line, that is, no earlier than 2037. The second main line should be completed between 2035 and 2037.
