The Englischer Garten (English Garden) is one of the largest urban parks in the world, larger than New York's Central Park. The name refers to the park's style, which was popular in mid-18th century England.

The area was originally the hunting park of the Bavarian rulers, and in 1789 Duke Carl Theodor decreed that the area should be transformed into a public park.

The official opening, after the completion of the landscaping work, was in the spring of 1792.

Also visit in the park:

- Chinese Tower

- Monopteros

- Eisbachwelle
