It is an entirely open architectural building, like a gallery. It was built between 1841-44 by Friedrich von Gärtner, inspired by the Loggia dei Lanzi in Florence.

Intended to be a monument to honor the heroes of Bavaria, it houses statues of two very important local military leaders, Johann Tilly and Karl Philipp von Wiede.

THIRD REICH TOUR

At the Feldherrnhalle, the failed “Munich Putsch”—the People’s Revolution led by Adolf Hitler—took place in November 1923; Hitler was subsequently arrested.

It is currently closed until 2028 for renovations and restoration.
