There have been buildings on this site since 1346. The old house was renovated in 1765 and transformed into this beautiful Rococo palace by the von Schäzler family, who in 1958 donated it to the city of Augsburg on the condition that it be used only for cultural purposes.

Today, the site features art exhibitions in the wonderful Kunstsammlungen and Museum Augsburg.

Inside, the highlight is the Festsaal, a marvelous Rococo-style hall, one of the most beautiful in Europe.

It faces the Herkulesbrunnen, and its facade facing Maximilianstrasse is 19 meters long, while the facade facing Katharinengasse is 107 meters long.

In the summer, its inner courtyard has a Biergarten.
