Würzburg City Hall
Würzburg's Historic Heart

Historic

The building that houses the city's old town hall was built in several stages: the first stage began in the 13th century and the second stage in the 15th and 16th centuries.

Beautiful 16th-century paintings adorn the building's lovely facade.

In 1316, the city council and the mayor acquired another building (Grafeneckart) next to the town hall. The building has a Romanesque tower and is the oldest part of Würzburg's town hall, which has undergone constant expansion over time.

To the west of Grafeneckart, another building was built for the town hall in 1659.

Don't miss the documentation room in the basement, which offers a poignant look at the city's destruction during World War II, providing a deeper connection to Würzburg's resilient spirit.
