Hidden near the base of the Matterhorn, these natural glacier caves are only accessible by descend off-pist, ski touring or splitboarding in winter. Formed by meltwater flows, they reveal sculpted ice tunnels in deep blue and silver — surreal, silent, and entirely shaped by nature.
These ice caves aren’t permanent. Each winter they shift, melt, and collapse. With rising temperatures, many are disappearing entirely. It’s a powerful reminder of how fragile this alpine world really is.
⚠️ Visit only with proper gear, glacier knowledge, and full respect. Never enter during warm spells or without a partner. And if you go — leave absolutely no trace.
🧭 Access: Ski tour from Hörnlibahn or descend off-piste from Furggsattel
