Recently, I've heard the Achensee being described as the "Austrian Caribbean" online, which is proof to not believe everything you read online! While this lake has beautiful turquoise and clear water - it is FREEZING cold year round!

It is truly one of the coldest lakes I ever swam in, so do not expect temperatures when going to swim here! There's also beautiful walks around the lake or up the mountains nearby, which over insane views of the surrounding mountain ranges and nature!
