What you’ll do

The Isle of Rum is part of the Small Isles archipelago, located on the west coast of Scotland. Rum is a wild, beautiful, and unique island, rich with biodiversity and fascinating history. I travelled to Rum by myself, without knowing anyone before I got there. I had an incredible time, met some great people and thoroughly enjoy seeing the sights of such a unique part of Scotland. I couldn’t liken it to any other Scottish island I’ve been to and I’ve been to 30, it is it’s own unique place filled with quirks and wonder. So, let’s get into the logistics of planning your trip!

Rum is a National Nature Reserve (NNR) meaning it is owned and run by the Scottish Government. Kinloch village is owned and run by the community. I was volunteering for the Nature Reserve for the week to work with the hill ponies but I still had plenty of time to explore the island in my downtime and with the Nature Scot team, it was incredible.

This itinerary offers a blend of Island Wildlife, untouched beaches and the native Rum Highland Pony. You’ll experience a bit of everything, from golden beaches filled with sunbathing red deer, historic buildings and the sweetest island gift shop. During your trip, don’t forget to tag me in your stories, reels and posts across TikTok and Instagram @anzafromtheglen - I would love to see them!!
