This old US military DC-3 is on the beach of Solheimasandur. It looks close but the hike is longer than you think. Expect at least 1-1.5h each way to walk there.

You may also choose to ride the shuttle bus (a 15 minute ride, one-way). The shuttle runs every 45 minutes. Tickets for the shuttle bus may be purchased on site.

The trail and shuttle bus is available year round but summer is the best time to visit.
