If you are happen to be in Zermatt during Winter, make sure you tick this easy and gorgeous hike of your list. Plus: This is for sure one of the most beautiful train rides in Switzerland.
How to get there: Take the Gornergrat Train and get off at Rotenboden. Turn to the left and then make your way direction Riffelberg. Its an very easy 1.5 hrs hike and the views are the best you can get of the Matterhorn. From the Riffelberg you can take the train back down to Zermatt.

Tip: Before you get off in Rotenboden, ride until the top to Gornergrat and enjoy a 360 degree view of the Matterhorn, the glaciers and 29 four-thousanders. Then do one stop back down to Rotenboden to start the hike. Unfortunately this adds 16chf/8chf on the ticket
